Double Journaling with ColourArte Silks

Welcome, crafty folks. Today I´m sharing my two latest art journals featuring fabulous ColourArte´s Silks. What are Silks? Amazing acrylic glazes rich in pigment and shimmer. The right stuff for your mixed media projects.

In the first project I used the following: Teal Zircon, Bolivian Blue, Vintage Mint and Cinnamon Brown.

A step by step tutorial:

Before I started working I had made Silks sprays. Just add water and Silks in a spray bottle. The more water you add, the less intense the colour will be. It´s totally up to you. Here we go:

First I treated the  paper with clear gesso and let it dry. Next I applied white gesso with a sponge here and there. When dry I started to add colours. I used dilluted Silks in sprays.

I didn´t want my page to look busy and chaotic so I decided to blend the colours using my brayer covered with white gesso.

Next I did some more spraying with Silks in blue tones.

Then I added some random stamping using black archival ink. I also made some blue splatters all over the spread.

I needed some texture and this time I went for a fabric circle. A bit torn and distressed. I cut it into parts and glued on the paper using gel medium.

I painted the fabric with white gesso and did some shading. I used H2O Wisteria and pigment powders in dark grey.

Then it was the right time to break the blue surface with an oval vintage shaped pic. I glued it on the smaller fabric element. Next I painted a frame chippie with Bolivian Blue Silks and attached it on the photo to emphasize lady´s head. I also added some silver micro beads, metal stars and black&white word labels on fabric background.
I made some black&white splatters here and there. As the final touch I glued on the sentiment saying:
He Was Fishing Out Her Wishing Well.

The second creation I´d like to showcase today is another art journaling adventure but this time I worked with different colour mood. I was playing with Silks:

Mango Mamba
Apricot Nectar
Bolivian Blue
Cinnamon Brown

A step by step tutorial:

First I covered the paper with clear gesso to avoid colour soaking. I let it dry and place my fave washi tapes all over the paper. Next I applied a random layer of white gesso and let it dry. Then I glued on some chippie frame left overs. I painted them with white gesso again and let it dry. This is a very easy way for creating a great texture.

I started to add colours using Silks sprays (Silk and water) and pigment powders. I also used water in a spray here and there.

I made some splatters in gold, blue, white, grey and apricot. Next I did some random stamping using brown and black archival ink. I attached some metal stars and sentiments.
Hoping you´re inspired by now :)
